Warrington Wolves approached us with a simple brief: to take them from one of the worst websites in the Super League to one of the best in British sport.
Extensive research into the online world of sport left us underwhelmed, with the majority of even the most popular teams' websites using a similar tired layout.
Armed with a raft of Analytics data and insight from the largest fan-feedback engagement undertaken in the club’s history, we set out to create something unique.
We went through a phase of meticulous user experience and user interface design, stripping down the site to the simplest possible structure. We consolidated reams of on-page text to bold, striking graphic elements, with which visitors could interact to increase engagement. We also pulled in live Opta feeds to keep the site bang up to date independently of administration.
We also wanted to raise the bar when it came to the CMS. We developed a powerful, flexible content block system giving the Wolves marketing team maximum autonomy when it came to updating fresh content, without the restrictions of a static template.
The new site delivered instant results...
increase in pageviews per visit
drop in bounce rate
Plus bags of great feedback from the most passionate fans around...
